Constance Gabrielli

Teacher, RYT 500

Con took her first yoga class in 2004 at her gym to see what all the fuss was about. It looked like it might be a change from her usual workout. As a lifelong sceptic she wasn't expecting to like it. She came out of that first class totally relaxed and she was hooked.

Con found a yoga studio and started regular classes. By 2008 she signed up for 200 hour teacher training. She was by far the oldest student. In 2009 she started teaching Baby Boomers and Seniors showing them ways to increase flexibility and improve balance. Her mission to keep the aging population strong and healthy.

When Kate opened SPY, Con followed her there and took the first Advanced Teacher Training adding another 100 hours to her resume.

Con has led yoga retreats in France and spent a month in 2012 in India. After years of struggling with meditation and the more spiritual side of yoga, Con has plunged into the deep end of the pool and come up smiling.

She completed a 28 day meditation with Sally Kempton the summer of 2012 and took private meditation and nidra classes in India. The journey continues here at SPY with meditation, pranayama and yoga nidra classes. Con invites everyone to come along.

Jane Gray

RYT 300

Jane started practicing in 2013 and immediately knew that yoga was different than other exercise she was accustomed to. The functional strength and range of movement she gained allowed her to live other areas of her life more fully. Jane did her teacher training at SPY in 2015, and is excited to be on the floor!

Robert Rollings

RYT 200

Ro started practicing at SPY in March of 2014. He graduated from SPY's teacher training program in 2016 and began assisting in 2017.

Kim Norvell

E-RYT 200
Certified Baptiste Teacher

Kim was introduced to yoga for the first time in February 2011 by a roller derby teammate. After years of wanting to try yoga, she agreed to attend a class. It was exactly what she needed to balance out her Type A personality and passion for a female aggressive sport. She quickly discovered that a regular Baptiste Power Yoga practice not only suited her physically, but transformed her mental state as well, allowing her to find a more peaceful and loving way of life.

Catherine Mulligan

Catherine was introduced to yoga at age 14 as a ballet dancer at Savannah Arts Academy. She quickly fell in love with the movement and philosophy of yoga. At age 16, she earned her first teaching certification and began teaching yoga classes in the dance room after school.

The practice of yoga has undoubtedly been the greatest gift in Catherine’s life. The continued impact yoga makes in her way of being is the “why” behind her teachings. The value of the practice is so high that it would be wrong not to share it.

Katherine came to yoga in her retirement after 30+ years as an educator. She started out on the WiiFit, progressed to DVD's and finally made it to her first Gentle class at Savannah Power Yoga almost four years ago. One thing led to another and she decided to enroll in the teacher training program. Katherine wants to share her love of yoga with others.

In addition to yoga, Katherine is an avid gardener, enjoys cooking and entertaining, and likes to travel when she can. She is devoted to her husband of 43 years, her two sons and daughter-in-law, and her new granddaughter. Her dog, Augie, holds a special place in her heart. She believes that everyone can benefit from the joys of yoga. Who knew??? At 60+ years old, Katherine has found a new passion in life. She has also found a new home-away-from-home at Spry and  Savannah Power Yoga.
Join us for a monthly gathering to discuss and reflect on the ethical principles of yoga.

We will use The Yamas and Niyamas by Deborah Adele as our guide. Each month, one of our SPY teachers will lead the discussion and help us reflect on, discuss and assimilate their meaning into our 21st century lives. These gatherings are intended to be a dialog and an inquiry into how we can align ourselves with these principles and bring them into our thoughts and actions.

The 5 Yamas include:

  • Ahimsa - non-violence (February 21)
  • Satya - truthfulness (March 21)
  • Asteya - non-stealing (April 18)
  • Brahmacharya - moderation in all things (May 16)
  • Aparigraha - non-covetousness (June 20)

The 5 Niyamas include:

  • Saucha - purity i.e. internal and external cleanliness (July 18)
  • Santosha - contentment (August 15)
  • Tapas - austerity; discipline (September 19)
  • Swadhyaya - study of the sacred texts (October 17)
  • Ishwara Pranidhana - constantly living with an awareness of the divine Presence (November 14)
